For the financial year 2009, pet care retailer Fressnapf announced an annual turnover of almost EUR1.2 billion (USD1.67 billion). This is an increase of 12.2% compared to the year before. In its home market Germany, Fressnapf posted a turnover of EUR830.9 million (USD1.2 billion), a 9% increase. Like-for-like sales grew by more than 4% in Germany. In 11 other European countries, where most Fressnapf stores are trading under the banner Maxi Zoo, total turnover rose to EUR356.1 million (USD495 million), a 20.5% increase over the previous year.
The chain opened 91 new outlets in Europe in 2009, 39 of which are located in Germany. Fressnapf ended the year 2009 with 761 stores in Germany and 318 outlets in 11 other European countries.
