Riverside acquires petfood company in Turkey

The Riverside Co., a global private equity firm, acquired Tropikal, one of only two petfood companies in Turkey.

Tropikal was one of the first petfood brands in Turkey, founded in 1999 as a distributor of international brands such as Sport Mix, Pro Pac and Beaphar. In 2005, the company launched its own line, which includes the brands Goody and Champion as well as the newly launched JFD and JFC brands.

"The Turkish pet food market is relatively young, but growing at an exciting pace. We're delighted to keep contributing to Tropikal's growth and development, reinforcing its market leadership position and expanding its product offering and further brand development in the years ahead," said Adam Pietruszkiewicz, vice president of Riverside.

This acquisition marks the first Turkish investment for Riverside and the fifth for Riverside Europe Fund IV.
