Fall in sales at Central Garden & Pet

The US firm Central Garden & Pet has reported a third-quarter drop in sales of 3 per cent to $ 465 mio compared with last year (2009: $ 482 mio). Net profits also declined from $ 31.1 mio (2009) to $ 25.9 mio. pet segment of the company had a satisfactory third quarter, seeing sales increase by 4 per cent to $ 222.7 mio (2009: $ 215 mio). Even sales of branded pet products rose in the third quarter of 2010 to $ 181.6 mio, an increase of 3 per cent over the previous year. Sales of products by other manufacturers grew by 6 per cent to $ 41.1 mio.
