Pet Fashion Week in New York

The fifth Pet Fashion Week NY took place in New York from 21 to 22 August. The two-day show was visited by around 600 pet industry buyers and presented companies from Spain, Hong Kong, Sweden, Italy and a group of companies from South America. Event coordinators offered a more intimate setting for 2010 (40 companies participated this year) and many of those who attended reported strong sales figures. Show organisers point to a high buyer to exhibitor ratio and concentrated buyer base as the reason for the success.

The 2010 PFW Lifestyle Innovation Award was selected by a jury of industry insiders and seasoned professionals from the sphere of pet toys. Competitors were encouraged to come up with new and innovative ideas regarding toys for pets. Entries were received from across the globe and Sweden's Nina Ottosson's Dog Tornado was selected as this year's winner. The toy offers a creative and challenging way for dogs to obtain treats: the animal has to manipulate a series of hatches in order to obtain a treat.
