Tyca (Libourne, France) is known in the pet industry for its aquatic products. But this company is also charting new waters, namely streetlights designed to absorb CO2 .

Aquatics are not absent in this development, TYCA's streetlights containing micro-algae which thrive on light and CO2 to produce oxygen. One 1.5 m² streetlight could absorb one ton CO2 per year (or what is produced by a lean car driven over 8,000 km).

The concept is patented but not yet marketed, although cities like Cap d'Agde (a large sea side resort on the Mediterranean sea), Bourges and, of course, Libourne, have showed interest to implement a light "forest".
